Message from Fr. Perry
Thank you for last Sunday’s celebration. I was overwhelmed and immensely grateful to see so many people at the Mass & in the hall afterwards. My thanks to all those who took a lot of time and effort to prepare both the Mass and the party afterwards. To all those who contributed to the leaving gift, a big thank you for your generosity.
These last few years have been a very special time for me as a priest. I have enjoyed my time here as a Parish Priest immensely. I will be celebrating the 6.30pm Mass on Saturday 19th July and leave for my holiday on the Sunday morning. My future is not clear at present, (see letter from Cardinal Cormac). I will be meeting the Cardinal in late September and hopefully he will have an appointment for me. The best way to keep in touch at present is by email:
perrysykes@hotmail.co.uk or perrysykes@ rcdow.org.uk.  You can write to me  c/o 16 Abingdon Road W8 6AF.  I hope you all have a good summer.
With love and prayers, Fr Perry.

Letter from the Cardinal:
Dear Parishioners,
I would like to take this opportunity to express my very grateful thanks to Fr Perry Sykes for all his enthusiastic and devoted service in Our Lady of  Victories parish. I know the parish is a very vibrant one in every way and much of this is due to the leadership and priestly service of Fr Perry. I know he will have the sincere gratitude of all parishioners as he leaves the parish.
It had been intended that Fr Perry should go to St Joseph’s Highgate, with a view to taking over from the Passionist Fathers, and I was confident that he was the right man to undertake that particular challenging appointment. The superior General of the Passionists has now informed me that the Passionist order wish to re-commit themselves to the service of the parish by establishing an International Community of priests and brothers to minister there. This, of course, means that Fr Perry will now be unable to assume the responsibilities I had given him.
After Fr Perry has had a break, and after consulting with the Archbishop’s Council, I will be offering Fr Perry a suitable parish appointment in the Diocese where his gifts and leadership will be needed.
Again, Fr Perry has my grateful thanks.
Yours, devotedly, + Cormac Murphy-O’Connor    Archbishop of Westminster
